Well, I've learned a great deal about internet tools and I'm definitely going to use them as part of my curriculum. Blogs can definitely be used in my class as an online journal. Wikis can also be used in so many different ways, I like wikis as vocabulary word builder, as a place where students can share their thoughts about a particular topic, perhaps even a place where my biology students can do some online debates on controversial issues such as global warming. I'm not 100% sure how I will incorporate all the tools I've learned about, but I'm definitely thinking about how to use them.
I've learned so much these past 6 weeks. I'm amazed about all of the things the internet can offer, but I'm also concerned about its safety.

Session 5 - Podcasts
I really liked how Radio WillowWeb uses podcasting for topics like sound and cultures around the world. I really like the fact that different students can contribute their prior knowledge to a particular lesson as in the case of the cultures around the world podcast. I think for my biology class I would like to do podcasting for topics like genetic disorders and DNA related topics. This is a great tool where students can demonstrate in an innovative way what they've learned. Students will be more willing to do an assignment of this sort and at the same time have fun with it. Gaps in knowledge acquisition are also readily visible through a podcast assignment. Assessing students work is easier this way as well.
session 4- wikis
I like the idea of incorporating wikis into my curriculum. I was looking through a wiki called "pay it forward" by Arapahoe HS which asks for ideas to the general audience how give can give back to the community. I can use something like this when I'm covering global warming topic. I can have students ask the general audience for input as to how we should improve global warming conditions. What are some measures that can be taken to lessen the effects and consequences of global warming.
I also like the idea of wiki to have students reflect on specific topics. Perhaps I can use it as a class journal where students can offer the ideas on debatable topics like cloning, stem cell research, etc.

Session 3
Blogging is a technological tool that I had no idea about. I like the idea of using in to write reflections, I can perhaps assign my students to do certain reflections through blogging. I can't deny that I feel a bit intimated because I'm just now starting to become more and more familiarized with so many tools available on line. I feel enlightened!
Aggregators is something I had never heard of and now I've even added 10 different feeds into my blog.
I'm making so much progress in so little time. I've even thought about what I'll assign my students in the near future to do using blogs. I love it!

Week 2: Activity 1
Hi my name is Claudia and I am on my 5th year of teaching at Los Angeles High School. I currently teach 10th grade biology and I enjoy what I do very much.
Teaching & Learning with Read, Write Web
I'm just finishing up this activity! A bit late, but it's done.
